Summary:
The times you expect it least are usually when temptation tends to stare you in the face. Just reading or hearing about the phenomenal results of others with advertising methods can cause temptation to rear its ugly head. In addition, it can come at times when a salesperson is offering you one of their great deals. Additionally the ease of use and hopes to get the similar results of others brings forth temptation.

Those that are small business owner, tend to always get drawn into new techniques and advertising ideas. New things people hear about, tends to boost the mind in the forward direction. This especially applies to things like testimonials, since they appear realistic and relating to current things, you are doing.

To help you understand, I want you to visualize a salesperson at your business. They are trying to sell you something and telling you that it is a great deal. Now you have temptation knocking at your door, so what do you do?

These three things you should ask yourself in order to evaluate the proposal made to you:

1. Take a step for a moment and think about whether currently your advertising is covering your general needs. The tempting new proposal part of your basic advertising, or is it going on to the next level? Always remember that you have to cover the basics first before you go any further. It is just like a store, you have to decorate it first before you can open. So, make sure to get all the basic advertising done before trying to go any further.

2. When it comes to generating profit, does the new technique or idea look as something that will stand on its own? Is it something that you can integrate into your basic advertising so that it will compliment what you are currently doing? Will this add as a contribution in building a cumulative advertising effect?

3. Is this something you can afford? At this point, are you already straining your present advertising budget? Is it something that will pay for itself, or break the bank?

You are probably still wondering whether temptation is worth listening to, well depends. Answering the above three questions honestly will help guide you in the right direction. Then you will know when the time comes for you to move forward onto the next level.
